I think Nepal is half tourist stuff and cute hotels and half hawkers, beggers and dirty streets and poor people.  But when you have friends there you'll be okay.  Just take taxis home unless you are close enough to walk, ignore hawkers unless you want to buy from them and have fun.  Do what you please.  You do not have to listen to me, but keep this in mind because  when you get there, you sort of have that welcome feeling.
