Katie's Peru Journal

January 9, 2005

I learned:

1.  The Peruvian farm animals are sheep, pigs, horses, dogs, donkeys, llamas and cats.

2.  the Peruvian houses are made out of mud because they have no other material.

3.  Peru's drinks are much sweeter than the USA's.

I did:

1.  We took a train back to Cusco.

2.  I saw many towns a villages on the way back.

3.  I saw many animals on the train ride home.

January 8, 2005

I learned:

1.  Machu Picchu is lower than Cusco city.

2.  Machu Picchu was discovered almost 100 years ago by a man named Hiram Bingham.

3.  the Incas were the first people to build at Machu Picchu.

I did:

1.  We took a 3 hour train to Machu Picchu.

2.  We had a 2 and a half hour tour of Machu Picchu.

3.  I went swimming at a cold pool at the hotel.

January 7, 2005

I learned:

1.  Today I learned that the city of Cusco is 11,500 feet in elevation.

2.  The Spanish took over the Inca's land by winning in battle.

3.  the Incas thought they were the bellybutton of the world.

I did:

1. We got on three planes to get to Cusco.

2.  We got donuts at the airport.

3.  We took a big van to get to our hotel.
